Wayne State University in Detroit today announced a $6.6 million investment in Detroit Urban Solutions, an emerging technology innovation consortium dedicated to developing cutting edge solutions to challenges facing Detroit and other urban areas.

A partnership between Wayne State, TechTown Detroit, and NextEnergy, all located in Midtown, in collaboration with numerous other organizations, the consortium will focus on smart cities technologies, including mobility, energy, digital health, and civic technologies.

Detroit Urban Solutions has been in the works for years and is coming to fruition with Wayne State’s recent acquisition of the NextEnergy Center across the street from TechTown’s headquarters.
