The State Of Michigan Is offering $8 million to fund ideas to improve mobility

The state of Michigan has put out a call for fresh ideas on transit, offering $8 million to fund pilot projects designed to help senior citizens, veterans, and people with disabilities access local transportation.

Unveiled at the 2018 Mackinac Policy Conference yesterday, the Michigan Mobility Challenge will award grants for projects that address “mobility gaps” throughout Michigan’s cities, suburbs, and rural communities. The fund, in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Transportation, the Governor’s Council on Future Mobility, and the Michigan Economic Development Corp., supports the state's efforts to regain its leadership in transportation as the traditional automotive industry gives way to startups from Silicon Valley to Shenzhen.
