Startup Spotlight: Carma Car

What if you wanted a small car for your daily commute, a van for weekend trips and a pickup truck for special projects? You could do all that and more with Carma Car. Describing itself as “the future of driving,” Carma Car is a month-to-month car subscription service and turnkey car-subscription software platform.

The company offers a single monthly fee in exchange for the flexibility of owning a vehicle with insurance, maintenance and roadside assistance included. Users can swap to a different vehicle every 30 days, pause or cancel their subscription at any time. It is ideal for people who don’t want the hassle of a long-term commitment or the downsides of leasing, allowing them to select the vehicle that fits their needs month to month.

Carma Car also offers a software platform for OEMs, fleet operators or dealership groups so they can offer a car-subscription product, earning a premium from their vehicles from subscribers. Detroit-based Carma Car became a part of the TechStars program to learn about how to partner with others within the automotive industry. Having a presence at the North American International Auto Show was an ideal way to get to know other people within the auto industry, especially during this dynamic period when everyone within the industry is here and open to talk.
